Colorado: Part Two

Check out Part One if you haven’t already.

Once I landed in Denver I met up with my buddy and fellow photographer Chris Jones and we drove to our first destination. We spent the next few days camped at the base of NORAD just outside of Colorado Springs. During our time there we explored the Garden of the Gods.

The Garden of the Gods can be a tricky place to photograph. While it is easy to make a simple picture of the rock formations jutting out it is more difficult to make an intriguing and unique photograph. The areas surrounding the formations limit visiters to the paths and roadway going around the park. The trick was finding the right spot at the right time of day with the right light but then again, that’s most of what photography involves!

To keep myself creative I started to focus on some of the details surrounding the Garden while also turning around and shooting in the opposite direction towards Pikes Peak.

I was still working off the creative funk at the Garden so it wasn’t the most productive but I’m still happy with some of the images I came away with.

Enjoy!
