Colorado: Part Five

If you’re just joining us, catch up with Colorado: Parts One through Four which can be found to the right of this post!

The final stop on this whole adventure was probably the most breathtaking. Once leaving the Black Canyon of the Gunnison we began to head into the mountains of Colorado towards Aspen and the Maroon Bells. Chris had timed our arrival to be the height of the fall colors for the Aspen trees and he couldn’t have timed it any more perfect.

The drive took us almost twice as long as it should have because we kept stopping along the way to shoot photos but it was well worth it. We had a few storms come in so we weren’t as active as we would have liked but it was a super productive stop. The Maroon Bells is probably one of the most photographed locations in the country so trying to make a unique image can be tricky. At almost all times of day there are packs of photographers linning the lake.

Again, Chris’ planning was impecable because just as we were departing, a storm blew through the valley removing many of the leaves and color from the trees.

Enjoy the pictures because I sure did enjoy taking them!

This is the last stop but not the last post. I am waiting on some film to come back to me and should be posting some shots from that set soon!
